London Landmarks Commission For Get Living London

Thursday 26th May 2016, East Village E20, London: A starling explores one of ten new bird boxes created by East Village E20, in partnership with the RSPB, to highlight the drop in London’s common garden bird population and encourage them to nest in the area. The boxes, which are inspired by London landmarks, will be displayed in front of Get Living London’s office, and will later be distributed across East Village’s 25 acres of green space and wetlands. These pictures show Ernie, the starling made famous by his regular appearances with Chris Packham on Spring Watch, making himself at home in the bird boxes. Starling Ernie investigates Tower Bridge

In March 2016 we were approached about creating bird boxes that are scale models of some of London’s most famous landmarks for Get Living Londons East Village.

The mission was to create boxes like The Shard, Big Ben and St Pauls as well as more iconic East London venues such as the ArcelorMittal Orbit  and the Olympic Stadium,  so that when placed together they form a recognisable landmark skyline of London.

Bespoke Birdbox took on the challenge and teamed up with Get Living Londons East Village E20 and the RSPB to highlight recent results of this year’s Big Garden Birdwatch, which showed that common garden bird numbers have decreased by around 20% since 2009.

In just a couple of months of hard work by Bespoke Birdboxes chief architect Peter and assistant Andy the landmarks were complete.
